Call me lowbrow. Call me kitschy. Call me simple. This is my very favorite Christmas album of all time. Firstly, can't nobody scoop a pitch like Karen Carpenter. Not nobody, not nohow. Secondly, if you listen to the album from start to finish (and that is the ONLY way), there are no breaks between the songs, because they are painting a portrait, hence the name of the album, teehee. Campalicious.Then let's analyze the fact that they use a harp glissando in nearly every song, several times. I love this. See, I only use glissando at very important parts of a performance; I don't want it to lose it's drama, after all. Do Karen and Richard worry about this? Nay, they do not. Drama abounds! From whom else might one learn about a place called Yuletide Square, complete with a snare brush in lieu of a drumstick?

I love Karen Carpenter's voice, even if hearing it always makes me a little sad for her untimely death.

Love the Carpenters, have 2 cds. Did I see a little Wizard of Oz in that post? Cause I read that part in that movie voice the very first time I read it.... :D You're so funny!
I have a double CD of Carpenters x-mas music and I LOVE it! I love them. I grew up on their music.
I buy a new x-mas music CD almost every year. I think this year I might get Sarah Brightman's Winter Symphony.
